“Gambit” Director Leaves Project
After the recent announcement that Lea Seydoux would be the female lead in the standalone X-Men movie, it was reported that the director originally brought on to the project, Rupert Wyatt, has exited due to script changes and budget issues. The title role is still held for Channing Tatum, but the scheduling is still up in the air. The film will have to find a new director before they can even start shooting, which was scheduled to begin sometime around this month.
“Gambit” is scheduled to premiere on October 9th, 2016.
New Stills from Netflix’s “Jessica Jones”
The official Twitter page for the new series, premiering November 20th, posted a new set of photos that show a glimpse at the new characters being introduced to the Marvel Entertainment world. The show is centered on Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, a former superhero with PTSD who opens a detective agency dealing with people with “special abilities”. “Jessica Jones” will also include David Tennant as Kilgrave, Mike Colter as Luke Cage, Rachael Taylor as Trish “Patsy” Walker, and Carrie-Ann Moss as Harper.
Confusion with “Fantastic Four” Sequel
Despite poor reviews and low box office money, writer and producer of “Fantastic Four” Simon Kinberg says he’s trying to make the sequel work. The movie had reported problems on set with the director, Josh Trank, and didn’t open to as big of an audience as 20th Century Fox expected, which led to Trank lashing out on Twitter. Even one of the movie’s biggest stars, Kate Mara, has admitted she hasn’t seen it yet. Mara says she had a “good time” filming, and didn’t predict what the future of the movie was, stating, “It was a tricky shoot, but you know…when you know when you’re shooting it that a film isn’t going to be what you want it to be? That was not the case at all.” Josh Trank reportedly did not want to cast Kate Mara as the Invisible Woman/Sue Storm, but Mara says that she would be willing to return to a sequel, saying, “That’s the thing that makes me most bummed because we have no idea if we’ll ever make another one.”
“Fantastic Four 2” has a scheduled release date of June 2nd, 2017.
